Good helmets and headlamps are a must. As are lots of spare batteries. You should have a minimum of at least three light sources.

Good hand held
flashlights are a must
for seeing long
distances. Xenon or
halogen are best, but
eat batteries quickly.
A harness for rappelling,
arresting falls, and to carry all
the necessary carabiners

Numerous ropes. Specifically
static rope. Low stretch, not
used for climbing. Descending
& ascending. Several lengths
from 150' to 200' or longer.
The ascender. Left and
right handed. What goes
down, must come up.
Finally, the carabiner. Lots of
these are good. Must have a
locking gate. Many uses,
such as anchors, connecting
equipment, even for holding
keys.
